Good news for travellers departing from Saarbrucken and Stuttgart. The German low-cost airline airberlin has launched a couple of new routes from these local airports. The new routes are Saarbrücken – Las Palmas, Saarbrücken – Nurenberg, Stuttgart Fuerteventura and Stuttgart – Lanzarote.

It appears as though the seemingly remote military conflict in Libya has its ramifications for European low-cost airline’s passengers. Italy’s Trapani Airport is used for military purposes which implies restrictions for the passenger traffic.
The Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair announced it would temporarily cancel 72 of its 264 flights to and from Trapani as of May 6, 2011. It concerns the flights operated by its non Trapani-based aircraft only. Initially many of Ryanair’s flights were redirected to Palermo Airport. But now it turns out this manoeuvre causes problems to passengers, hence the change.

We begin with Iberia which following the expanded codeshare agreement with British Airways is now offering flights to new African and Middle-eastern destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Doha, Bahrain, Muscat , Johannesburg and Cape Town.

It appears as though there is no end to the new routes this week. Today me would like to mention a new development from the Sharjah-based Air Arabia.
This big middle-eastern low-cost airline announced it would launch flights connecting the Italian Airport Torino Cuneo with the place known from the classical drama with Humphrey Bogart. Yep, we mean Casablanca. The new Casablanca – Torino route will be in operation as of July 1, 2011 and is yet unavailable for booking.

The Sharjah-based low-cost airline Air Arabia announced it would launch new services from the French city of Montpellier to Moroccan destinations. Montpellier, which is the the eight biggest city in France, is Air Arabia’s third most important destination in France.
The new routes from Airport Montpellier will be in operation at the end of March and will fly to such destinations as Fez, Oujda, Nador and Tangier. The flights will be on a weekly basis.
