Berlin Brandenburg further delayed & more airline news

There is no end to the misfortunes around the new Berlin airport. The opening date of Berlin Airport has now been officially postponed even further, to be precise to October 27, 2013. The question that is up in the air is that of whether and how the new financial requirements can be met.

An update on the Lufthansa strike – after three rounds of industrial action, both sides in the conflict agreed on arbitration. On their part the flight attendants of Lufthansa pledged there would be no more labour actions unless the arbitration talks do not reach any conclusion.

Airline news – Ryanair, Lufthansa and Air Berlin

Just as nature, aviation abhors vacuum and consequently airlines react quickly and are filling the holes left by the fall of the Hungarian Malev. Among them is the German flag carrier Lufthansa which recently started to fly daily on the Berlin – Budapest and Hamburg – Budapest routes.

Lufthansa’s competitor Air Berlin does not leg behind either. The company started operating Berlin – Budapest flights as well. The flights operate daily.

Airline news – new routes and services

We start off this February-week with a handful of new routes from various, mainly European, airlines. First on the menu, is the Danish airline Cimber Air. Cimber recently expanded its offer of flights to Madeira. The new Billund – Funchal flights are operated weekly.

Another Scandinavian carrier, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, launched new service connecting Oslo with Geneva on a weekly basis. This route complements SAS’ flights offer to Geneva from the two other Scandinavian capitals.

Ryanair – more than 150 new routes in 2012

Vueling to add new Barcelona flights
