Virgin Blue Group expands services in Melbourne

Virgin Blue Group announced that it would be expanding services on five their routes from Melbourne Airport. Pacific Blue will increase services from Melbourne to Denpasar from five weekly to daily and from October 31 and will also increase services from Melbourne to Christchurch from four weekly flights to daily

In December, V Australia will operate an additional weekly service from Melbourne to Los Angeles (three times a week), Johannesburg (three times a week) and Phuket (twice a week). This announcement follows the Virgin Blue Group increases in May from Melbourne to Fiji and Denpasar.

New Auckland – Cairns direct flights take off today

Low cost airline Pacific Blue today begins new direct flights from Auckland to Cairns. The new direct flights represent a 79% increase in seats available on the Auckland–Cairns route. Flights are on Tuesdays and Saturdays and will be operated with Boeing 737-800. Regular lead-in fares start from $349 one way on the net, around 13% cheaper than what was previously available.

93% of Pacific Blue domestic flights on time

Pacific Blue recorded a strong on-time performance result in October, with 93% of domestic New Zealand flights departing on time.

Pacific Blue’s General Manager Commercial, Adrian Hamilton-Manns, said the airline had consistently achieved on-time performance of 90% or more for most of the year.

Pacific Blue readies to take off from Hamilton

September 1st, 2009

Pacific Blue starts its new international services from Hamilton this week with celebrations beginning this afternoon when one of the airline’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft lands at the city’s airport for the first time, in preparation for tomorrow morning’s inaugural flight from Hamilton to Sydney.

Six of the region’s mayors, including Hamilton City Council Mayor Bob Simcock and Tauranga City Council Mayor Stuart Crosby, will be on this afternoon’s special flight from Auckland to Hamilton.

Virgin Blue: celebration of 9th birthday with Twitter sale

Virgin Blue Airlines is celebrating turning nine years old with $9 seats on sale across a range of routes in the first of what the airline says will be regular ‘Twitter’ sales. The $9 ‘Tweet seats’, priced deliberately at less than a bottle of birthday champagne, will only be available on the Virgin Blue Twitter website .

From 9pm tonight until sold out, Virgin Blue will offer 1000 $9.00 one-way fares for Virgin Blue Twitter fans to snap up across a range of destinations including Canberra – Sydney, Port Macquarie – Sydney, Brisbane – Newcastle and Rockhampton – Brisbane. The fares are for travel from February 2, 2010 to February 27, 2010.

Virgin Blue launches flights from Perth to Phuket

Virgin Blue announced that its international airline, Pacific Blue Airlines, will launch direct flights from Perth to Phuket from November 14 as it continues to expand both its domestic and international route network in and out of Western Australia.

The carrier will provide the only direct flights, twice a week from Perth to the popular Thailand resort island of Phuket, which is loved by Australian travellers for all its sensational food, affordable Thai style massages, super shopping, relaxing retreats and vibrant nightlife.

Pacific Blue and V Australia: online booking from NZ to the USA

Pacific Blue and V Australia have made it easier for Kiwis to book a low fare to the USA with online fares now available at flypacificblue.com and vaustralia.co.nz. For the past three months Kiwi travellers have been able to book fares on the Pacific Blue-V Australia code share flights via travel agents, but can now also go online and book flights.

Connecting flights are available for sale from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch to Los Angeles and beyond.

Pacific Blue adds Auckland – Queenstown flights

Low fare airline Pacific Blue announced it was adding a new destination to its New Zealand domestic network, with weekend flights from Auckland to Queenstown scheduled to begin in September.

Queenstown will be the airline’s fifth New Zealand domestic port. Pacific Blue has been flying between the three main centres of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch since November 2007, and added domestic Dunedin services in July 2008.

Pacific Blue takes Embraer E-JET on regional tour

One of Virgin Blue Group’s newest aircraft, a 104-seat Pacific Blue branded Embraer 190 E-Jet, will touch down around New Zealand this week as part of a tour to road test the aircraft in New Zealand, familiarise Pacific Blue staff with the jet and gauge feedback on suitability for potential operations.

Pacific Blue has been operating its 180-seat Boeing 737-800 jets on the main trunk domestic routes in New Zealand for nearly 18 months and said there remained “other tempting opportunities to introduce further competition”.

Virgin Blue announces new Bali Flights and Holiday deals

March 27th, 2009

Virgin Blue Airlines Group has announced it will increase its services to Bali from Monday 1 June, introducing two brand new routes, one direct from Sydney and the other from Melbourne to the Balinese island gateway of Denpasar.

Pacific Blue will also ramp up its direct flights from Adelaide to Bali from twice weekly to three times a week. The announcement comes after the airline launched its inaugural flights to Bali just three months ago from Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
