Wizz Air, the largest low fare – low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe announced today that it would launch two new routes from Bucharest in reaction to the changing competitive landscape. The airline will offer flights to Catania and Bologna/Forli from September 21 and October 28 respectively. The flights will be operated twice a week initially.
Wizz Air has an extensive network from Romania to Italy offering 12 Italian routes from its three Romanian bases. Former Myair passengers who wish to travel to Milan/Bergamo are welcome to rebook on Wizz Air flights on the same route. Those who were traveling to Venice can take a Wizz Air flights to Venice/Treviso and passengers to Rimini can chose to fly to Forli/Bologna.

Civil aviation Italian authority (ENAC) suspended the licence to the Italian low cost airline MyAir due to financial problems. The suspension starts today (July 24, 2009) at midnight. To help MyAir passengers, Alitalia activated special low fares for those passengers that would suffer from the cancellation of MyAir flights on July 24 and 25.
