Lufthansa strike and and other airline news

The hottest aviation-related topic that has made to the headlines these days is the strike of Lufthansa flight attendants. After the first round of the strike action on Friday, the UFO union annouces its members will resume strike.

The second round will affect Lufthansa‘s passengers on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Just as was the case on Friday, the details will be provided 6 hours ahead of the walkout.

News: New airline routes

Looking for airline news? You are in the right place. We start off with Virgin Atlantic, a carrier associated with long-distance flights. The most recent announcement concerns a short-distance route though.

By March 2013 Virgin Atlantic intends to launch London – Manchester flights and according to a statement from the airline’s CEO, this is just the beginning of the carrier’s short-haul expansion.

Airline news – new routes and services

February 13th, 2012

We start off this February-week with a handful of new routes from various, mainly European, airlines. First on the menu, is the Danish airline Cimber Air. Cimber recently expanded its offer of flights to Madeira. The new Billund – Funchal flights are operated weekly.

Another Scandinavian carrier, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, launched new service connecting Oslo with Geneva on a weekly basis. This route complements SAS’ flights offer to Geneva from the two other Scandinavian capitals.

A new chapter in Flybe‘s history has just begun. This British carrier, or more precisely its Nordic subsidiary called Flybe Nordic, has just launched its new Scandinavian routes. Among them are Helsinki – Trondheim, Helsinki – Tartu or Tallin – Stockholm.

Flybe: baggage allowance

Iberia, which together with British Airways is a part of International Airlines Group, started a new weekly service between Marseilles and Menorca increasing the number of routes connecting Spain with this charming French city to four.

Today is Monday, meaning – time for the latest updates. Especially for you: new routes and services as well as other news from the low-cost airlines and traditional carriers.

The Irish-low cost carrier Ryanair expands in the Greek market. As of respectively June 1, 2011 and May 30, 2011, the carrier will operate flights from Frankfurt to Crete and Milan Bergamo to Crete. The flights will be operated twice a week and are already on sale.

Flybe’s selection of routes for Summer 2011

September 7th, 2010

Regional airline Flybe announced an early selection of 21 routes to top summer destinations. New services include flights to France or Spain or domestic services to/from the Channel Islands, Exeter, London Gatwick or Southampton.

Flights are available from £26.99 one way including taxes and charges for early summer travel between March 27 and June 30, 2011. This early selection has been put on sale ahead of Flybe’s full summer schedule for next year that is expected to be announced over the next few weeks. More info can be found at flybe.com.
