Suspended flights. Cimber Air to go bankrupt?

The long black list of airline bankruptcies is getting longer as yet another European carrier seems to have gone bust. Today 6.30 o’clock the management of the Danish-based Cimber Air (known also as Cimber Sterling) declared the company’s insolvency.

At present the prospects for the passengers are rather gloomy. While the fate of the airline is not yet sealed, the website of Cimber is currently down and all the operations have been temporarily suspended.

Airline news – new routes and services

February 13th, 2012

We start off this February-week with a handful of new routes from various, mainly European, airlines. First on the menu, is the Danish airline Cimber Air. Cimber recently expanded its offer of flights to Madeira. The new Billund – Funchal flights are operated weekly.

Another Scandinavian carrier, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, launched new service connecting Oslo with Geneva on a weekly basis. This route complements SAS’ flights offer to Geneva from the two other Scandinavian capitals.

About a Big time celebration and numbers

60 is a nice round number and guess what – it is coming up to the 60th anniversary the Danish Cimber Air. It calls for a celebration so it should not come as a surprise that Cimber launches a big time promotion to mark its anniversary. So what is the celebration all about? We began this piece of news with a number and let us stick to numbers. This is about 3 ports of departure, fares starting at 295, 395 and 495 Danish crowns depending of which one out of 36 routes one chooses.

As for the ports of departure, the choice is between Copenhagen, Billund and Aalborg (albeit predominantly the two first ones). As far as the destinations are concerned, there is a wide range of European cities on sale, both in Denmark and elsewhere. As a way of example, an all-inclusive trip from Copenhagen to Rome will cost you just DKK 295. Nice, is it not?
