The Frankfurt-based carrier Lufthansa is expanding its services to South America, a region which, in the words of its CEO, «is very much in focus». The focus on the South-American market manifested itself recently in a new code-share agreement between this German airline and the Colombian flag carrier – Avianca.
At the first stage, the cooperation will enable a more seamless travels to Colombian destinations. Passengers on their way from Airport Frankfurt will be able to carry on to some of the largest cities in this country on one ticket. These cities are: Barranquilla, Cali, Bucaramanga, Pereira, Medellin and Cartagena.
In the long run, the agreement will encompass Avianca’s international routes across South America as well as a possibility to redeem award miles on all code-share routes.
